Friends of Sugar Loaf—Supporting our Fire Department, Connecting our Neighbors
Friends of Sugar Loaf (SGRLF) is a non-profit (501) © (3) organization designed to support the volunteer Sugar Loaf Fire Department and to host local events and outreach to bring our community together. Friends of Sugar Loaf builds community support for the fire department through several areas of focus.
We raise money, awareness and encourage community engagement to serve the volunteer firefighters on our department who work hard to protect our neighborhoods and the forests around us.
Community Fundraising Events
Fun and festive community events actually do the hard and important work of raising critical funds for our dedicated volunteer fire department. Every year, the Sugarloaf Garage Sale and the Sugarloaf Craft Fair each raise tens of thousands of dollars that support the firefighting operations budget, new equipment acquisition, and firefighter training.
Outreach and Education
Each year, the Friends of Sugar Loaf Fire Department seek opportunities to educate our community about a range of topics that affect our lives in these beautiful mountains we call home. Topics can range from wildfire mitigation to fire season preparedness, CPR and first-aid training, gardening and wildlife interactions.
Community Gatherings
Anyone who has lived in a rural area knows that their neighbors are important sources of friendship, community, and support. Our Sugarloaf community is rich and diverse and full of people willing to lend a helping hand. Friends of Sugar Loaf Fire Department look for ways to foster this community and introduce you to other Sugarloafers with community events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Trunk or Treat, and the Annual Community Picnic.
Find your way to contribute
We all benefit from the dedicated work of our Sugarloaf Fire Department, but each of us can contribute in many ways even if we don’t don a firefighter’s jacket. Find out all the ways you can donate your time, money, or expertise to make our community a richer and safer place to live.
“We all have something we can contribute
to make our community even better.”
